Hurricane Fiona Brings Flooding and Blackouts

Hurricane Fiona destroyed homes and left people of the Dominican Republic without running water. Nearly 800 people were brought to safety by emergency workers as the eye of the hurricane hitting the nation early yesterday morning with winds of 90 miles an hour after it ripped through Puerto Rico resulting in a blackout and destruction to the island that has not been seen since Hurricane Maria in 2017. 3 people have been reported dead due to the storm. A 58-year-old man was swept away in a river and another man died in a fire that occurred while he was attempting to put gas into a running generator. It is unclear how many people are impacted by the power outages in Puerto Rico. Heavy rainfall continues to threaten the Dominican republic.
