The Mosquito Fire burning in Northern California has prompted evacuations. It’s the largest wildfire currently burning in California, which began west of Lake Tahoe due to extreme heat. The fire has forced more than 11,200 people to flee as it’s threatened thousands of homes and structures. It pushed toward the community of Foresthill and even arrived at the edge of the local high school. Firefighters were able to keep the flames away from the school but it is unclear how many structures it demolished in its path. The blaze has already burned over 50,000 acres and was 25 percent contained as of last night.
