Women Speak 7K More Words a Day Than Men, Study Finds
The researchers believe it has something to do with higher levels of a protein called "foxp2" found in the language center of the brain.
Who talks more, men or women? There have been some studies on this. One report showed that women speak 20,000 words a day, men utter 13,000. Researchers at The University of Maryland believe it has something to do with higher levels of a protein called Foxp2 found in the language center of the brain. They tested the theory on mice and found that male pups communicated twice as much in the form of crying. The male mice had the higher levels of the same “language protein.” Researchers ramped up its production of the protein in females. Thee females then cried out more and in contrast, males became less talkative.
