President Biden Signs Order Kickstarting CHIP Manufacturing Law
Earlier today, President Biden signed an executive order kick-starting the implementation process of the sweeping $280 billion law to boost U.S. domestic chip-making and scientific research. The order establishes a 16 member implementation steering council made up of cabinet secretaries and top White House officials from Biden’s National Security and Economic teams and be co-chaired by National Economic Council Director Brian Deese, National Secretary Adviser Jake Sullivan and the acting director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Alondra Nelson. The order will also detail President Biden’s six priorities for the implementation process in the months ahead and include a series of critical factors designed to guide the speed, oversight and private sector relationships for more than $52 billion in new funding to turbo charge domestic chip manufacturing to create long-term economic and national security.
