McKinney Wildfire Destroys 90 Homes, 40% Contained

The McKinney Fire in California has destroyed nearly 90 houses and is only 40% contained after beginning about a week ago. The blaze which is the largest in California this year began on July 29th and grew rapidly. As of yesterday, it had burned over 60,200 acres and more than 3,500 fire personnel were involved with the battle. According to information released by the Siskiyou County Office of Emergency Services, out of 274 structures that were inspected, 87 homes and an additional 51 structures endured minor damage. Search and rescue efforts continue and numerous hazards remain in the evacuation zone.
