Trial Against Conspiracy Theorist Alex Jones Begins in Texas

During a court hearing yesterday, lawyers for a Sandy Hook victim called out right wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones for texts messages that were accidentally sent regarding the shooting. The jury in the case will determine how much Jones will have to pay Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis who won a judgement against him earlier this year and an attorney representing the parents has asked the jury for $150 million in damages. In the messages, Jones said in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook shooting that the incident was staged and in 2019 he said that a ‘form of psychosis’ he was in at the time caused him to believe it was staged. Yesterday, Jones said that he believes the Sandy Hook shooting happened and that it was ‘100% real.’ The current trial is one of three that will determine how much Jones will have to pay multiple Sandy Hook families who sued him and won their judgements.
