No Gag Order Issued in Alex Murdaugh Murder Trial

More information on the Alex Murdaugh case has been released. According to a decision from Judge Clifton Newman, there will be no official gag order in Murdaugh’s murder trial. This news comes after Newman denied the request for all records in the case to be sealed and any witnesses or people involved in the case can talk outside of the court room. Both Murdaugh’s lawyers and the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office prosecutors had asked for a full gag order due to the attention on the case and the want for the case to be tried’in the courtroom and not the media’. Murdaugh was recently indicted on malice murder charges for allegedly killing his wife and son in June 2021.
