More than 40 million people are under heat alerts across the United States. Temperatures are expected to warm up into the 90s and 100s and break dozens of temperature records across the country while advisories and excessive heat warnings cover Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Montana and the Dakotas. Excessive heat warnings have also been issued for other areas where temperatures could reach triple digits and nearly 20% of the U.S. population or about 60 million people will likely see temperatures above 100 degrees this week.
