Secret Service Accused of Deleting Texts Wanted for Jan. 6 Ivestigation

The Homeland Security Inspector General's review of the Secret Service and its actions on January sixth is ongoing.

A new discovery was made by the House Select Committee investigating the capital riots. The Secret Service is accused of erasing text messages from January fifth and january sixth of 2021 after oversight officials asked for them. The Secret Service says some records were lost during a device migration that happened before the request but all the requested records were delivered. A spokesperson said “The insinuation that the Secret Service maliciously deleted text messages following a request is false.” The Homeland Security Inspector General’s review of the Secret Service and its actions on January sixth is ongoing.
