Over 500 Flights Canceled Yesterday Due to Storms
The weather affected air travel yesterday making it the worst day for flight cancellations in about a week. According to data from FlightAware, there were 544 cancellations nationwide as of last night around 8 p.m. The most affected areas included New York where 9% of flights at LaGuardia International Airport were canceled. Newark Liberty International Airport and Washington D.C.’s Reagan National also saw high cancellation numbers. The FAA imposed a ground delay program late yesterday afternoon for flights bound for Newark and LaGuardia and the FAA also delayed some outbound flights still on the ground.
