There’s a trend where people are dunking their faces in ice water or placing ice on their chests as a way to ease anxiety. It’s smart to be cautious of social media health trends but, this is one called vagus nerve icing and it’s part of a real technique psychologists use. It can be an effective way to lower your heart rate and redirect blood flow. All you need is ice and water. Or, just a bag of ice. Put both in bowl and set a timer for 15 to 30 seconds. Hold your breath and dunk. It should cause a drop in heart rate, which is often associated with a drop in stress levels.
