President Biden Signs Executive Order on Abortion Rights

President Biden will sign an executive order today aimed at protecting abortion rights in response to the Supreme Court’s recent decision. The president is expected to sign the order during a ceremony in the Roosevelt Room with Vice President Kamala Harris in attendance among others. The order will prompt Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra to take steps to ensure access to abortion including FDA-approved medication, abortion and extended access ‘to the full range of reproductive health services’ which include emergency contraception and long-acting reversible contraception devices.
