More Details on Highland Park Shooter Have Surfaced
More details surrounding the July 4th shooting in Illinois have surfaced. The gunman Robert Crimo III was no stranger to highland park police, in April 2019 they got a call that he had tried to take his own life using a machete, and mental health professionals handled the situation. A few months later, he threatened family members that he would ‘kill everyone’ and had a collection of bladed items in his closet. Following that incident, police submitted to the Illinois State Police a ‘clear and present danger’ about what happened. No arrests were made. Crimo passed four background checks in June 2020 and September 2021 when buying weapons and legally bought five fire arms, including riffles, pistols and possibly a shotgun. His application for “firearm owner’s identification card” was sponsored by his father because of his age and was not denied because there was ‘insufficient basis to establish a clear and present danger.’
