North Myrtle Beach Plastic Bag Ban Delayed Until October
Yesterday, North Myrtle Beach leaders voted to push back it’s plastic bag ban to October. The ban originally went into effect last Friday after being approved in 2019 and delayed due to the pandemic but, will now go into effect on October 1st. The new date gives stores that still have plastic bags time to get rid of them as the cost of switching to paper or reusable bags in much higher. There’s also a supply chain backlog. The city said enforcement of the ban will start with an education campaign before any tickets or fines are handed out.
