British Prime Minister Boris Johnson Stepping Down

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has resigned from his position. Johnson is not planning to leave office but until his party selects a new leader. He said a revolt from the Conservative Party was part of what led to his decision. In a televised announcement from outside 10 Downing Street, Johnson spoke of his attempts to stay on as leader and how ‘painful’ it is for him to step down. He did not make any mention of the scandals that he’s been involved in and also addressed voters directly and expressed his sadness at stepping down after holding the role for the past three years. Since Tuesday, over 60 members of the government including five cabinet members have also resigned.
