Myrtle Beach Parking Rates to Increase on July 1st
New parking meter rates go into effect in Myrtle Beach this Friday. New rates are as follows:
Where the old rate was $1.50 an hour for parking, the new rate is $2 per hour.
Where the rate was either $1.75 or $2 per hour for parking, the new rate is $3 per hour.
All-day parking, where offered, is now $10 or $15, depending on the location, the old rate was either $8 or $10.
According to the city the increase reflects ‘today’s parking value in a busy tourism environment’. Parking from the meters is reinvested into the area to pay for additional parking, street-scape enhancements, maintenance and other services. City council is also eliminating the three-hour only parking restriction in the downtown area.
