It’s All About the Sauce This Summer – Ice Cream Trend

Audra makes a zesty, strawberry-lemon sauce that will ignite your senses this summer!

The trend in food this year has been about texture. and that extends even into our dessert. When it comes to ice cream it’s all about the sauce this summer!  Just in time the Food Network gives us a recipe for that. that will delight all the senses.
Zesty Strawberry sauce
1 pound of fresh strawberries
1/2 cup granulated sugar
pinch of table salt
1 tablespoon of cornstarch
1 lemon  (1 teaspoon of lemon zest plus 2 teaspoons fresh lemon)
vanilla ice cream
chopped salted nuts for toppings
Directions:
Mix your cornstarch with a 1/2 cup water. then add that in a saucepan with strawberries, sugar and salt.  Heat slowly to simmer, stirring.  Then lower heat and simmer for 20 minutes, constantly stirring.  Remove from heat then stir in the lemon zest and juice.  Cool.
