Woman Finds $36,000 in Couch Cushion She Bought from Craigslist and Returns it!

The guy who put it there recently passed away, and his family had no idea.  These are our Carolina Kindness stories.

The mayor of a Boston suburb found a creative way to use leftover stimulus money to  surprise all the graduating seniors in the town.  He gave a speech at an awards ceremony where he was expected to announce the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship.  Instead he announced everyone won.  All the students and parents in the auditorium went crazy as you can imagine.  The generosity didn’t stop there.  Any student in that town graduating and attending college can receive the same.  The mayor went on to say students graduating in 2022 have endured the brunt of remote learning and lost earnings opportunities and this was one way to help local families pay for college.

A woman in California got a free couch and matching chair on craigslist then found $36,000 hidden in the cushions and gave it back!   The guy who put it there recently passed away, and his family had no idea.   The woman had also been looking for a fridge, so the couple gave the woman $2,200 of the money to buy a new one.

Trent Lessard hadn’t seen his mom in almost a year.   He wanted to surprise her  and with the help of her coworkers was able to.  He went to her work and as she was waiting for what she thought was a work meeting, gets a surprise from him.  The hug is precious.  It’s the kind of hug a parent can understand.
