How Some Restaurants are Adding Fees to Your Bill

Customers sometimes don't know how much they're paying until after they receive the bill.

If you’ve eaten out or ordered food lately you may have noticed you are paying more despite the menu prices staying the same.  According to the “Wall Street Journal”, nearly 40% of restaurants have added service fees over the past year.   The idea is that this keeps their prices competitive.  It can catch some off guard as customers sometimes don’t know how much they’re paying until after they receive the bill.  They found extra charges listed as things like: a temporary inflation fee, supply chain surcharge, wellness fee, “kitchen appreciation fee,  non-cash adjustment, and a fuel surcharge.”
