Horry County Schools Passes $890 Million Budget for Next Year

During their meeting last night, the Horry County School Board unanimously approved an $890 million budget for next school year. Taxes will not be raised but pay raises for teachers, bus drivers and other employees will be included. Also announced were plans to hire an outside firm to review the current safety and security procedures at the schools and make recommendations on improvements to the board. That project will cost up to $150,000. Officials also said they are working to hire more school resource and security officers, implement new fencing and gates, metal detectors, limited access points and controlled entry for visitors.
