Prime Minister Boris Johnson to Face Vote of Confidence

Today, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will face a ‘vote of confidence.’ According to the chairman of the 1922 committee to backbench lawmakers, Graham Brady, the number of conservative party parliamentarians calling for the vote has reached the necessary threshold and the vote will be held between 6 and 8 p-m. If 180 conservative lawmakers vote against Johnson, he will cease to be leader of the governing conservative party and will be forced from office. If Johnson wins the vote then he will remain both as leader of the party and as Prime Minister. The vote comes months after the ‘Partygate’ scandal with allegations of parties and gatherings during various stages of the lockdown playing a factor, he’s also being criticized for his response to a cost-of-living crisis.r
