Biden Announces New Aid Package for Ukraine

The war in Ukraine continues and the United States is providing the country with more assistance. Yesterday, President Biden announced in a New York Times op-ed that the U.S. would be providing Ukraine with ‘more advanced rocket systems and munitions.’ Biden said that the goal is to ‘see a democratic, independent, sovereign and prosperous Ukraine with the means to deter and defend itself against further aggression.’ He also said the new shipment would ‘enable them to more precisely strike key targets on the battlefield.’ The rockets and munitions will be part of the U.S.’ 11th package of security assistance sent to Ukraine. That package is expected to be announced officially today and include air surveillance radars, additional javelin anti-tank weapons, anti-armor weapons, artillery rounds, helicopters, tactical vehicles and spare parts to help the Ukrainians continue maintaining the equipment.
