Thousands of Flights Canceled Over Memorial Day Weekend

Thousands of flights were canceled across the country this weekend. Around 6.000 flights were canceled from Friday through yesterday with hundreds more delayed according to FlightAware. On Sunday 1,640 flights were canceled with more than 500 of those flying within the U.S. Yesterday, there were more than 1,228 cancellations with more than 300 of those flights traveling within the United States. Delta Air Lines was one of the most affected companies with more than 500 domestic and international flights cancelled. The company blamed Saturdays issues on bad weather and ‘air traffic control actions’ that took place on Friday. AAA had estimated that 3 million passengers would travel by air over the weekend.
