Trump Reacted With Approval to Pence Chants From Rioters on Insurrection Day

More details on the day of the Capitol insurrection have surfaced. According to a former aid to Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, then-President Trump had suggested to Meadows he approved of the ‘hang Mike Pence’ chants from rioters who stormed the Capitol grounds. The aide, Cassidy Hutchinson, testified before the House Select Committee investigating the riots yesterday and also said that Trump complained about his then vice-president being hustled to safety while Trump supporters breached the Capitol. Hutchinson has appeared in front of the committee during three separate sessions and last week, she went over ‘new ground’ though it was not immediately clear what was discussed during that meeting. Attorneys for Meadows, Hutchinson and spokespersons for the House select Committee have declined to comment on the matter.
