This TikTok Challenge Should Make Your Head Spin

Audra and B.J. test out the trending social media "hanger reflex" challenge on Carolina A.M.

There’s a social media challenge where people are putting a scientific theory to the test by putting hangars on their head.  The hanger reflex theory made its round on TikTok then resurfaced again after a researcher at NYU tweeted about it.  The theory predicts that when you put a wire hanger on your head, your head will involuntarily start turning towards the hook of the hangar.   The hanger reflex theory was first documented in 1991.  Two other studies have been posted about it.   The one published in 2015 tried it on 120 people, and it worked on 96% of them.   For some reason, your head tends to want to turn away from the hook.
