First Shipment of Baby Formula Arrives in U.S. from Overseas

The baby formula shortage continues in the U.S. but yesterday, a shipment of 35 tons of formula arrived in Indianapolis. According to a Biden administration official, the formula will be distributed to areas around the country where there is the most acute need. The official also said none of the shipment would land on store shelves. It includes 132 pallets of formula which is hypoallergenic and will be fed to babies intolerant of protein in cow’s milk. The formula originated from Zurich, Switzerland and was trucked to Germany before being flown to the U.S. The shipment will provide enough formula for 9,000 babies and 18,000 toddlers for one week. A second shipment is expected in the next few days, including 114 pallets of Gerber Good Start Extensive HA Infant Formula.
