Brittnee Drexel’s Remains Found in Georgetown County, Moody Charged
Remains recently discovered in Georgetown have been identified. Yesterday afternoon Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office officials held a press conference and confirmed that the remains found in a wooded area along Old Town Avenue in Harmony Township last Wednesday were those of Brittnee Drexel who went missing 13 years ago. Sheriff Carter Weaver said the remains were identified using dental records. 62 year old Raymond Moody of Georgetown is charged with murder, kidnapping, and first degree criminal sexual conduct. Moody allegedly caused Drexel’s death by manual strangulation on or about April 29th, 2009 and allegedly sexually battered Drexel on the same night. Evidence shows she was raped and killed at the Santee River and then her body was taken to Old Town Avenue. A celebration of life will be held both in Rochester and in Myrtle Beach but no dates have been announced. Her remains have been turned over to her parents.
