Apple to Discontinue Production of iPod
According to an announcement made yesterday by Apple, the company is discontinuing production of the iPod. Apple said customers can continue to purchase iPod Touch devices ‘while supplies last’ but no more will be produced. The first iPod was introduced by Steve Jobs in 2001 and helped kick off the companies tremendous success with handheld devices. The first iPod featured a scroll wheel and the promise of holding ‘up to 1,000 cd-quality songs’ on a device that fit in your pocket, by mid-2007 over 100 million iPods had been sold.
