The War in Ukraine: Odesa Struck by Missiles, U.S. Working on Additional Aid Package

Yesterday, a shopping mall and two hotels in Odesa, Ukraine were struck by hypersonic missiles fired by Russia. Two people were hospitalized from the missile strike at the hotel. Five people were wounded and one person died during the missile strike at the shopping mall.

Here in the states, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin wrote to congressional leaders urging them to pass supplemental appropriations for Ukraine by May 19th in order for the administration to ‘provide uninterrupted critical military support’ to the Ukrainians. President Biden has called on congress to “immediately” pass a nearly $40 billion Ukrainian aid bill. House Majority leader Steny Hoyer said the the house of representatives will consider the aid package today.
