Soldier Sends a Thank You Video After Receiving Girl Scout Hero Box

The Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina shared a video they received from a soldier opening a box full of Girl Scout cookies. This is one of our Carolina Kindness stories.

The Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina shared a video they received from a soldier opening a box full of Girl Scout cookies.   This is just one of the many outreach things the Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina do for those serving our country.  They’ve heard from a few of the recipients. it means so much.  This was part of the Girl Scout Hero Box packing.   In all, 108 Easter Hero Boxes and 80 Girl Scout Hero Boxes were sent to our local military serving away.   The cookies were donated by the Eastern SC Girl Scout Council and members of the community donating through the Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina.  Donations helped get these boxes shipped, $2700 for Easter alone.  It’s the little things like this that make their day, hearing and receiving support from loved ones and the communities they had to leave in order to serve.

This Tiktok account posted about her neighbor’s birthday celebration.  Her neighbor is a WWII vet and was turning 100.  She asked  fiancé and another friend who also served our country to dress in uniform for a salute in a neighborhood parade.  Other neighbors joined in for the event including the local fire department!

This is the story of how another used her talents to spread kindness and hope.  Angie Carel saw a need in her community and used her gifts to help after recognizing the statistics of more than half of people polled in reported saw a decline in their mental health due to stress and fear that stemmed from the pandemic.   She used her artwork that she created with her kids during that time to start daily sharing prompts of encouragement on social media.  These drawings aimed to help give problems a different perspective and opened up conversations where people were sharing their stories.  In turn, this formed community and support.   Carel heard from many how it helped them work through unresolved issues in their lives.  She’s now logged over 625 simple daily drawings.
