Senate Expected to Confirm Nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson Today
The Senate is now taking a procedural vote to advance President Biden’s Supreme Court Nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson. The vote to limit debate and break a filibuster requires only a simple majority threshold. A final confirmation vote which will require a simple majority to succeed is expected to take place around 1:45 p.m. Once confirmed, Jackson will make history as the first black woman to serve on the Supreme Court. After today’s vote, there are up to 30 hours of additional debate time allotted for the nomination but that time could be yielded back as Congress is scheduled to begin a two-week recess at the end of the week.
