Senate Advances Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Nomination to Supreme Court

Ketanji Brown Jackson is expected to be confirmed as the first black female Supreme Court Justice later this week after the Senate panel voted to advance her nomination yesterday. After the Senate Judiciary Committee voted 11 to 11, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called for a vote to break the tie and send her nomination to the floor. Three Republicans including Susan Collins of Maine, Mitt Romney of Utah and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska joined all Democrats in support of Jackson.
