New research suggests yoga is a key to maintaining long-term weight loss. Even though it lacks the physical intensity that is often the focus of calorie-burning workouts, a study done at Brown University, found that it really can help shed pounds. Two groups of women were monitored for the research for 12 weeks. One practiced yoga while the other was educated on nutrition. The yogies in the group not only lost 3.5 percent of body fat over the 12 week period but, also reported greater improvements on psychological measures.
