Marine Corps Members Killed in NATO Training Exercise in Normandy Identified

The U.S. Marine Corps has identified the four service members who died when their aircraft crashed during a NATO exercise in the Arctic Circle on Friday. The four Marines who were assigned to the 2nd Marine Air Wing, are Captain Matthew J. Tomkiewicz of Indiana, Captain Ross A. Reynolds of Massachusetts, Gunnery Sergeant James W. Speedy of Ohio, and Corporal Jacob M. Moore of Kentucky. Their aircraft an MV-22B Osprey crashed during the cold response drill which involved 220 aircraft, 30,000 troops and 50 vessels from 27 countries. They were reported missing at 6:30 pm on Friday during the training mission in northern Normandy and rescue helicopters found the wreckage but couldn’t get to it immediately due to bad weather. The remains were recovered by a Royal Norwegian Air Force rescue helicopter last night. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
