Law Enforcement and Safety Sweeps Held Along the Intracoastal Waterway this Weekend

36 agencies performed law enforcement and safety sweeps on the Intracoastal Waterway throughout South Carolina and Chatham County, Georgia on Friday. During ‘Operation Hammerhead’ a total of 69 vessels were boarded which resulted in 2 violations and 13 warnings from the Department of Natural Resources, 13 violations and 8 warnings from the U.S. Coast Guard, 2 citations and 18 warnings from police departments. A total of 21 vessels, 1 SLED helicopter, 1 AUX plane and the 43rd CST HAZMAT assisted with the operation.
