Robeson County Firefighter Hit By Vehicle

A Robeson County firefighter was struck by a vehicle while responding to a fire last night. Robeson County Fire Marshal Stephanie Chavis said the firefighter involved is a volunteer with the Allenton Volunteer Fire Department, they were fighting a brush fire near old Allenton Road and according to Chavis, heavy smoke in the area decreased visibility for drivers and the firefighter was on the side of the road when they were struck. They were airlifted to the hospital with leg fractures, some abdominal bleeding and possible head trauma and their condition is unknown. More information will be announced at a later time.
