RNC Tries Blocking Email Records from Reaching January 6th Committee
The House Select Committee investigating the Capitol Riots is expected to receive data from the Republican Party’s email communications platform Salesforce today. Last night the Republican National Committee went to court in an attempt to block the hand over. The RNC alleged that the House’s subpoena to ‘Salesforce’ seeking information about the 2020 election communications including those related to former President Trump would “give the select committee unprecedented access to the RNC’s internal political strategies and to private, personal information regarding it’s supporters.” Last week the RNC filed a lawsuit against the committee complaining about the subpoena’s breadth but, that lawsuit was unlikely to succeed as it was only aimed at the committee and not ‘Salesforce’. But yesterday, the RNC added the company to the suit as well. With the addition, complete and effective emergency relief can be used until the dispute is resolved.
