Florence Schools One Board Votes on ‘Gas Hike Rebate’

During a meeting last night, the Florence One school board voted to approve a bonus for all full and part-time employees. Each employee will receive an extra $500 on their March 29th paycheck to help with the rising costs of fuel. The ‘gas hike rebate’ will cost the district $1.1 million, $250,000 of which will come from the general fund vacancy which are job openings that were not filled and $871,500 will come from federal grant money though the specific grant had not been specified. According to officials, the additional funds could not be added to the paychecks for March 15th because they have already been calculated.
