Jussie Smollett to Receive Sentencing Today

Actor Jussie Smollett is due in court for sentencing today. Three months ago, a jury found Smollett guilty of lying to police about an attack prosecutors say he orchestrated on himself. Smollett was convicted of five of six felony counts of disorderly conduct. He faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison per count. According to prosecutors, Smollett went to extraordinary lengths in January of 2019 to stage a hate crime, when he hired and paid two men to carry out the attack and told them what racist and homophobic slurs to shout. The two men testified in court against Smollett.C
