Gregory and Travis McMichael File Motion for Acquittal in Connection to Ahmaud Arbery Case

Travis McMichael and his father Gregory are seeking acquittal of their federal hate crime convictions in connection to the death of Ahmaud Arbery. According to court documents filed this week, the McMichaels argue that Arbery’s killing didn’t happen on public streets and also claim the government did not provide sufficient evidence for their convictions. In November the McMichaels and their neighbor William ‘Roddie’ Bryan’ were convicted on state murder charges in Arbery’s death. The McMichaels were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole while Bryan was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
