One Dead, Two in Critical Condition After Shooting At a School in Iowa

One teenager was killed and two others are in critical condition after a shooting outside of a school in Iowa yesterday. The teens were shot on East High School grounds with a firearm coming from a passing vehicle. A 15 year old boy who did not attend the school died from his gunshot wounds, two female students ages 16 and 18 are hospitalized in critical condition. Officers began receiving calls on reports of gunfire at the school at 2: 48 pm and found the victims outside when they arrived. The school went under lockdown for more than 40 minutes and students were dismissed around 3:30 when police gave an all clear. The school will be closed today and grief counselors will be on hand for students and staff. According to Police Sergeant Paul Parizek with the City of Des Moines, potential suspects were detained and no charges have been filed as the investigation is ongoing.
