Ukrainian President Zelenskyy Addresses the Nation, Refugees Continue to Evacuate

The war in the Ukraine continues. Russian troops have laid siege to the key Ukrainian city of Mariupol and in an address today, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy pleaded for more international assistance. Another round of talks between Russia and the Ukraine is also taking place right now. In terms of evacuations, according to the United Nations, more than one million refugees have fled the country in just seven days and millions more are likely to be forced to flee the country.

Canada announced hours ago that it will not be limiting the number of Ukrainian applications it receives and fast-tracking the process for both temporary and permanent residency status with full access to work and study programs. The Biden administration is also expected to impose new sanctions against Russia as early as today which could include a travel ban targeting family members, and a list of sanctions on a number of oligarchs sanctioned by the European Union earlier this week.
