President Biden Announces Nominee for Supreme Court
President Biden has selected Ketanji Brown Jackson as his nominee for the Supreme Court. Jackson will fill the seat of retiring justice Stephen Breyer and could be the first Black woman to sit on the highest court in the nation. She currently sits on DC’s Federal Appellate Court and has been considered the front runner to fill the vacant seat since Breyer announced his retirement. Her credits include serving as a clerk for Breyer and a Federal Public Defender in Washington, Commissioner on the U.S. Sentencing Commission and also serving on the Federal District Court in D.C. after being appointed by former President Barack Obama. Jackson was also elevated to D.C. Circuit Court last year by President Biden.
