President Biden Announces New Sanctions Against Moscow

Yesterday, President Biden described the events happening in the country as the beginning of a ‘Russian Invasion.’ He also stated that Vladimir Putin was launching a bid to fundamentally redraw borders in Europe , violating international laws and putting pressure of the West to respond… President Biden laid out what he called a ‘first tranche’ of U.S. sanctions against Russia for it’s moves including on two large financial institutions, Russian Sovereign Debt and Russia elites and their family members. He said the moves would effectively ‘cut off’ Russia’s government from Western finance. Biden also announced he was moving additional troops and equipment in order to strengthen U.S. allies while making it clear that they would not be there to ‘fight Russia.’ The steps Biden announced yesterday are just some of what he is planning as the President is reserving some of his toughest measures to use them should Putin actually invade.
