Germany Halts Nord Stream 2 Pipeline Certification

Germany has stopped approval for the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. The 764 mile line would carry natural gas from Russia to Germany. The reassessment is due in part as a response to Russia’s actions toward Ukraine according to Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Earlier this month President Biden promised to ‘bring an end’ to Nord Stream 2 if Russia invaded Ukraine and today White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that ‘we have been in close consultations with Germany overnight and welcome their announcement.’ The U.S. will announce it’s own measures today according to Psaki.
