President Biden Agrees to Summit With Russian President Putin
According to a u-s official, President Biden has agreed ‘in principle’ to a meeting with Russian President Putin as long as Russia does not invade Ukraine. The potential summit was proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron and follows U.S. warnings about the war being imminent. The meeting would occur after the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov meet Thursday according to the White House. Also according to a U.S. official familiar with the latest intelligence briefing, military prep for the invasion continues but there has been ‘no slow down.’ Russian President Putin is also expected to hold a meeting of the Russian Security Council today according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who stated the situation at the border remains ‘extremely tense’.
