Covid-19 Cases, Hospitalizations Down From Peak Numbers About a Month Ago

The number of new Coronavirus cases and hospitalizations in the United States is just a fraction of the record high reached last month. According to the CDC, even with the lower numbers, more than 2,000 Americans are still dying each day from the virus. The U.S. is averaging 151,056 new cases according to Johns Hopkins University which is a 44% decrease from last week. A month ago at record highs, the United States was averaging around 800,000 cases a day. Last Friday, for the first time since December, the U.S. had less than 200,000 new cases a day. In hospitals, 82,842 patients are hospitalized with Covid-19 according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services which is about a 23% drop from last week.
