Horry County Schools Votes to End Virtual Learning Program After 2021-22 School Year

Last night during a meeting, The Horry County School Board voted 11 to 1 to end the virtual learning program after the 2021-22 school year. The vote will put the program on pause for at least one year but leaders say it could return in 2023. Leaders say at that time the goal would be to put together something that was improved. According to data from HSC, students enrolled in their virtual program are about twice as likely to fail one or more core classes compared to students learning in person. Just over 40% of students in the program failed one or more classes during the first semester of this school year.
