‘Ambassador Bridge’ Reopens After Week-Long Blockage by Protesters

North America’s busiest land border crossing has reopened after a week-long blockade after protesters crippled the key trade route. Demonstrators in Canada’s capitol are also expected to begin shifting out of residential areas today. The protests are part of the ‘Freedom Convoy’ and have grid-locked traffic in many areas for the past few weeks displaying their disapproval of mask and vaccine mandates in the country. The standoff at the Ambassador Bridge which links Windsor, Ontario and Detroit stopped traffic between Canada and the U.S. and it’s reopening will allow the ‘free flow of commerce between the two country’s economies’ once again. Yesterday, Windsor Police began arresting protestors on the bridge and up to 30 people were placed under arrest, most of those were charged with ‘criminal mischief.’ Police also seized five vehicles yesterday and seven were towed away on Saturday.
