Georgetown County Council Approves Redistricting Map
The Georgetown County Council approved it’s new map for the county district lines at a redistricting workshop last night. The council unanimously approved the map that was unveiled and leaders said it addresses concerns made by the NAACP and others about minority populations having a say. A majority of the county’s minority population is in districts three, four and seven. The county was advised to change it’s lines after the 2020 Census showed more people moving to areas like Murrells Inlet.
